What is left?
The Incas did not leave us empty handed. Before they disappeared, they left behind for us their culture. They left behind for us a simple hint of what they used to do--what they used to fear, love, and hate. In the end, we remember them because of this.
Legacy
The Incas lasted about a couple hundred years. However, they were not lost in time. We remember the Incas because of what they did and what they left behind for us. We remember them though they seemingly disappeared without a trace.
The reasons why we remember them is because of their beautiful gold ornaments, fantastic stone highways, agricultural terraces, and left behind stone-cut cities. Though not many gold ornaments exist today, the few that still do exist give us a hint of the beauty they had once crafted. Stone highways and agricultural terraces allow us to walk where they had once walked and see what they had once seen. The left behind stone-cut buildings gave us a glimpses of what they had to go through on a daily basis. Because of the things they left behind, we remember them in their absence. Like a breath of fresh air, we learn about them and their tragedies and keep to our minds what we should never repeat. We see the faults in their past and can apply it to ours. Because they taught us, they will never be forgotten, and to this day, they have not been forgotten.
